WHY YOU SHOULD CARE

Everyone should care because illiteracy breeds violence. Statistics show that the least educated populations have the greatest percentage of conflict and displaced persons. When conflict envelops a region, death, hunger, disease, psychological trauma and suffering abound. World organizations and the more developed countries are destined to provide humanitarian relief in various forms. People in unstable nations are typically rendered non productive because their circumstances subject them to living hand to mouth, unable to sustain themselves without outside intervention and are lost as a valuable resource for their families, their communities and the world at large. Economic aid will inevitably arrive from private donations and from the tax dollars of rich nations. Just think of the world with fewer manmade disasters and how much we are missing because of deprivation. Is this a dream? No. We see education as that one-drop-in-the-bucket that can make the world a much better place for millions of people . . . one alphabet at a time.
